Unsurprisingly, there is a law against killing someone and inheriting their estate. The Courts in the UK developed this concept, which was then adopted in Australia.
In the 1990s, the Forfeiture Act was enacted to provide the Courts with some discretion to change the rule, to take into account circumstances where someone should still inherit DESPITE unlawfully killing a person.
